It was removed. During testing it became clear that the number was mostly reporting lighting and background rather than the skin, and it moved more between two photos taken minutes apart than it did across weeks of real change. A number people trust that measures the wrong thing is worse than no number at all, so it came out. What is left is the photographs themselves, dated and lined up, which is the part that was always doing the work.
Use the ghost overlay. Your previous photo appears faintly over the viewfinder, and lining the subject up with it at roughly the same distance and angle is the whole technique. Consistent light helps more than anything else, so the same room at the same time of day beats trying to be precise about it.
Yes. Any tracking area can be exported as a PDF containing its photos and dates, which you can save, print, or bring to an appointment.
They are deleted with it. Everything lives in the app's own storage on your phone, so deleting the app removes all of it permanently. Export anything you want to keep first.
Use your device passcode at the lock prompt. If Face ID stops working entirely, check that Cairn Skin is still enabled under Settings › Face ID & Passcode › Other Apps.
Cairn Skin is not a medical device. It keeps a dated photo record and helps you line up each new photo with the last. It does not detect, diagnose, rule out, or assess anything, and it will never tell you whether what you are seeing matters. If something on your skin concerns you, see a clinician.
